What once was small has grown
In February 2001, drs. Jan Volbers, Sr. Communication Adviser of the PR department at the University of Twente paid us a visit.
He was looking for a system that he could use to quickly and easily create and maintain a website with news items. He also let us know immediately that he was not interested in a lenghty sales pitch... Ten minutes later, we had converted his old site design to a WebHare template. Then, Mr. Volbers began adding more and more content to his new press website.

After being convinced of WebHare's usability, version 1.0 of the system was published on a University server a few days later.
Soon, the rumor spread that finally there was a system that actually worked. And slowly but surely, the number of sites maintained by WebHare grew.
During this time, an article (In Dutch) appeared on the web, in which WebHare was rightly described as a "publication tool with CMS characteristics."
Now, WebHare has grown up to be a complete, professional CMS (content management system) that offers everything needed: extensive user management, database connectivity, a flexible webserver, a powerful development environment, etc.
As of November 2004, more than 240 official University sites are maintained using WebHare by several hundred users. All faculties, support services and research institutes use our system on a daily basis.
"From the tiny acorn grows the mighty oak."
