User management
Accounts and units
The WebHare Application Portal system comes standard with advanced, yet easy to configure, user management options.
Every user in the WebHare system gets an account that requires a login name and password. These accounts, in a group, are classified as units.
To every unit, a unit supervisor can be assigned. This person is responsible for managing all accounts in their specific unit. In this way, you are able to create a unit for every department of your organization that maintains all user accounts for that specific department. One or more persons in each department may be assigned to act as unit supervisors.
User management in WebHare can be simply decentralized. Thus, the burden of managing user accounts may be shared instead of resting on only a few shoulders.
User rights - roles
In WebHare, there are two types of user rights:
1. |
System configuration and user management rights |
2. |
Module specific rights |
System configuration and user management rights grant a user the right to configure the system and/or the user accounts available on the system, possibly in combination with unit management. Examples for this category of rights include access to configure webserver bindings, specify virtual hosts, as well as create and manage all units.
Module-specific user rights can be individually configured. A user of the Publication module may be granted definitive rights within a range of access, from the right to create new sites or the restriction to only placing content in a specific folder on a specific site.
If an individual user does not have rights in a particular section of WebHare, this area will not be visible to the user. “What is needed, when it's needed.”
